Wallet
T bought a new wallet, so we gave her old one to Philipa. She was pretty excited, and immediately started digging around in it. She eventually popped up her head and said, "Where did all the money go?"
(she pronounces it 'mun-eee')
I told her, "I wonder the same thing. Probably all was spent on lunch."
"oh...I need money! Can I get the money from the elephant?"
(her piggy-bank is an elephant)
"No sweety, we don't want Philip to eat any."
Eventually T cut up some orange paper into some bills and put it in the wallet for Philipa. She was disappointed, "I want round money!"
I cut up a Mini-wheats box. Now Philipa has orange, blue, Shrek, Donkey, and Kitty money. She spent some time looking it over before carefully putting it into her change purse.
She loves the wallet and has been carrying it around in the classic 'woman-holding-a-pocketbook' stance. Sort of like a football carry, but with an upright stance and more of a curled wrist. Philipa even took it with her to the Please Touch Museum. I think it has been one of her favorite toys ever, so we'll keep humoring her. I can't wait for someone to get all worried that this little girl has taken someone else's wallet. Maybe we'll need to make some ID for Philipa. She'd like that. Stuff it with her own baby pictures.
Philip is a little sick, but he's moving around more and more. He crawls everywhere after Philipa. He also will crawl up to you and start to head-butt your leg when he wants to be picked up. The two of them love it when I carry one in each arm and dance around the house, singing whatever comes to mind. So far we've had "Boogie-oogie-oogie", "Camptown Races", "The William Tell Overture", "You can't hurry love", and several other timeless classics.
Merry Christmas.
